One of only four known specimens of Baptemys wyomingensis in existence, and the largest and most complete of them all. Discovered in 2023 at the American Fossil Quarry near Kemmerer, Wyoming, this Eocene turtle from the world-famous Green River Formation represents a landmark find. The specimen reveals extraordinary shell detail preserved over 50 million years in the oxygen-depleted depths of ancient Fossil Lake. Presented on a custom double-sided display, allowing the specimen to be appreciated from both sides, an exceptionally rare presentation for an exceptionally rare animal.
